Teachers play a vital role in society and sending an appreciation letter is one way that you can thank them.
As the term ends, I want to thank you for all have done to instill in my daughter Ann a love for learning. She now exhibits a level of confidence that was missing throughout her educational career.
For the last three years, Ann came close to flunking math. Because mathematical concepts did not come easily to her in the primary grades, she developed a phobia to equal signs and fractions. As she progressed through high school, she conditioned herself to dread algebraic equations, geometric theorems and trigonometric functions. Ann didn't do her math homework because she convinced herself she was too stupid to succeed. From this self-defeating attitude developed a lethargy that carried over into her other classes. Just three years earlier, Ann had talked about attending college. At the conclusion of the last school term, we were seriously considering whether we should be investigating alternative education programs as a better option for her.
I am so grateful for your understanding when I approached you at the beginning of the year. Your suggestion about arranging for an older student as to mentor Ann went a long way toward improving her basic math skills. The supplemental assignments you gave her were greeted with loud complaints at first, but gradually enabled her to perfect mathematical principles which she once found so daunting.
You were with us every step of the way this year in providing updates on her progress. The "B" she received as a final grade is a testament to the time you spent convincing Ann of her potential. We will be forever grateful.
Sincerely,
