When you are ready to retire from teaching, you can use a retirement letter to formally inform your employer of your retirement date.
If the letter is being sent as a hard copy, then it should be in the proper business format, otherwise, if the letter is being emailed, it should have an appropriate subject line and proper grammar.
I will be resigning as of the 21st of June this year in order to pursue my retirement. Please accept this letter as an official notification of my resignation from [School Name].
I would like a smooth transition so I am more than eager to train my successor for the next school year. I have already created a transition folder for the next teacher.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could forward all of the required information and documents regarding the retirement process, in addition to a comprehensive benefits plan for retirees like myself, to my home address.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your generous support, understanding and cooperation throughout my time spent here. It has been an immense pleasure to serve as a teacher with [School Name] , and the relationships I've have formed here over the years will not be soon forgotten. I leave my position at our school feeling very fulfilled and confident that our institution will continue to succeed and excel at all it does. Thank you for everything you do for the children of this community. If you need my for anything, you can contact me on my cell phone.
Best Wishes,
