Letter to Discontinue Service

If you would like to discontinue a service, it may be required that you submit a request to cancel your service in writing.

If the letter is being sent as a hard copy, then it should be in the proper business format, otherwise, if the letter is being emailed, it should have an appropriate subject line and proper grammar.

How to Write
  1. State what service you have and that you would like to discontinue your service, be sure to include your account number or account information.
  2. Specify the effective date that you would like to stop the service that you are receiving.
  3. If applicable, ask for a refund on the balance of your account.
  4. Ask for confirmation that they received your letter.
  5. If appropriate, thank them for the services that they have provided, it's usually best to end things on good terms.

I currently have the Basic Maintenance Package with Landscaping Contractors; my account number is [Account Number]. I am writing to inform you that I'll be cancelling our contract effective on [Date]. Please refund the unused portion of the balance on my account and send me written confirmation that you have received this letter.
